RSGB Contest Results 4th 144MHz Backpackers 2016

This weekend brought some of the best weather and DX of any Backpackers this year, though a few in the west reported strong winds and lashing rain at the end. The following QSOs were worked by the Backpackers and Low Power contest entrants.  Note that there were more than twice the QSOs to EA than to GM!

DL: 21,  EA: 44,  EI: 1,  F: 288, GI: 20, GJ/GU: 27,  GM: 20,  ON: 27,  PA: 43

ODX for this contest was made by GW7LAS/P at 1137km with EA1UR.  Who needs QRO?

Congratulations go to certificate winners as below:

  •  Winner, section 3B: GW1YBB/P
  •  Runner-Up, section 3B: GW7LAS/P
  •  Winner, section 10H: M0VUC/P
  •  Runner-Up, section 10H: G8BGV/P
  •  Leading Intermediate Licensee, section 10H: 2E0TGS/P

Logging accuracy varied between perfect (two stations) and a loss of nearly 25%.  One QSO to EA was amongst these losses.

Just one Backpackers to go this year on Sunday 4th September.  This of course largely overlaps with the 2m Trophy which should make for a busy band.
